Generator Maintenance Oil Flushes
When performing a major inspection on your turbine generator, it is important that you do a thorough and proper oil flush. Oil system cleanliness is vital to the reliable operation of your unit. Doing an improper oil flush can create more problems if your procedure is not comprehensive. There are two main types of oil flushes:

·         Maintenance oil flush
·         High velocity oil flush

A maintenance oil flush should always be performed after any minor inspection which includes the bearings. The oil reservoir pumps are utilized and each bearing is bypassed. The oil is sampled as it returns to the reservoir until no hard particles greater than 5 microns are detected. The system is generally flushed for a minimum of 12 hours.

After a major inspection, a high velocity oil flush should be performed. High oil velocities can be developed by bringing in a separate oil pump skid or by using the existing oil pumps if they are of sufficient capacity. It is important that all system restrictions (orifices, coolers) be removed from the system so that sufficient flows can be obtained. Heating the oil is also necessary to achieve optimal cleaning results. In especially dirty systems, hydroblasting oil lines is an effective way of pre-cleaning prior to the high velocity flush. Oil coolers should always be removed and cleaned as they are natural dirt traps.
In any case, it is important to design the cleaning process that fits your particular unit and outage.

TGM Adds Three New Reliability Programs to Current Service Offerings
TGM already offers Generator Reliability Programs(GRPs)— GRP 1, 2, and 3—that allow you to schedule your generator testing and maintenance with your turbine maintenance or repair, minimizing unit downtime. .

TGM now offers the following additions to our testing and inspection programs designed to work with your turbine maintenance and repair: our Circuit Breaker Reliability Program (CBRP), Electric Transformer Reliability Program (ETRP), and Motor Reliability Program (MRP). The CBRP and MRP are both one-day inspections designed to fit with your Major or Minor Inspection, and the ETRP is a two-day inspection fitting a Cylinder Inspection or Major Inspection.

Our Generator Specialist / Director of Generator Services has 16 years experience in power generation maintenance and repair.

Parts and Component Repair
Through experience, TGM knows that the most practical approach to repairs is maintaining relationships with qualified vendors and parts facilities. At TGM, we put our customers first rather than our shop’s schedule, offering options that take into consideration location, price, and most favorable delivery times. What Others Say about TGM

Please feel free to use me as a reference any time you wish, especially when you believe it is most beneficial. I just recently received a call from an engineer with the City of Orrville (Ohio) Municipal Utilities, and I gave a glowing reference of TGM—a reference of real substance . . . It’s important you know I wouldn’t just recommend anyone. Those of us that run coal-fired power plants are like a fraternity. We knew some of the same people and, in turn, both of us have had many of the same problems and issues in the operations and maintenance of our plants.
